Thanks to all of the parents who attended our Back-to-School Night last Tuesday. It was so nice to see so many parents here at OP. We are glad you had the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, attend the Information Fair and maybe purchase some gear as well.

ALPHA Administrators, Counselors and Secretaries

For your convenience, here is a list of the administrators, counselors and secretaries at OP.

Activity Buses Begin Thursday, September 9

Activity buses will begin on September 9 and will be available after school every Tuesday and Thursday. Any student who meets with a club/organization/sport can stay late on those days and can take the activity bus home. (Activity bus information will be sent out through CANVAS next week and also posted on the OPHS Website.) Students who stay after must get a pass from their sponsor or coach and will have 10 minutes to go to the first-floor cafeteria to wait until the bus arrives. Students who do not have a pass will not be able to ride the activity bus.  The activity bus will depart OPHS at 4:45 pm.

School Laptops – Insurance for devices and updating

All students should have a school issued device now. If your student is using a personal device, we strongly recommend that they switch to a PWCS device as we are unable to help troubleshoot personal devices and the guest WiFi can slow down rather quickly if many devices are using it. School laptops will continue to be available for pick-up in the Library.

We are strongly encouraging families to purchase the optional device insurance that is available. If your student’s laptop is damaged and needs to be returned, the cost for a replacement or for repairs will be due from the parent before a new laptop is provided. Optional digital device insurance can be found here.

Please make sure to update your laptop. This is best done at home as it can take an hour or more the first time the computer is updated. Connect to your home WiFi and then follow these steps to update your laptop:

Student Laptop Update Instructions:

  • Press the Windows key on your keyboard or click on the Magnifying glass in the bottom left corner of your desktop screen
  • Type “Check for updates” and press enter.
    • A new window will pop up
  • Select “Check online for updates from Microsoft Update”
    • **IMPORTANT Do NOT select the “Check for Updates” gray rectangle.
  • Updates will automatically begin to install. Do not turn off computer or disconnect from internet.

If you are still having issues with your laptop, please bring it to the main office during the school day.

Free and Reduced Lunch Form

While breakfast and lunch is being provided free of charge to all of our students this year, we are asking that families complete the free and reduced lunch form if you have qualified for free and reduced lunch in the past or you feel that you may qualify for it this year. The form can be found at

This form is important because it can determine a family’s eligibility for things like: discounted school fees, free or reduced internet services, and/or discounted phone service. Completion of the form also ensures that Osbourn Park receives the appropriate funding to support all our students.

Gifted Education

The OPHS Gifted Education Department is looking forward to kicking off the SIGNET year at the end of September. Please be on the lookout for a welcome letter (via email) and Permission for Services form (9th grade and new students). Students will be added to the appropriate SIGNET Canvas Course by the beginning of next week as we set things up for a successful school year! Questions? Please reach out to Ms. Beth Christensen at [email protected].

Message from Student Services – Please complete Social/Emotional Well-Being Survey

We recognize that the past year has brought some challenges to our PWCS families. This school year, you will hear messages about addressing unfinished learning and ensuring both physical and mental wellness for all students and staff members. Our school based mental health professionals stand ready and are committed to supporting your student(s) as they continue their educational journey. To help us be prepared to support our students, we are asking parents/guardians to share information with us via a survey about your student's social and emotional needs. The survey will close on September 17, 2021, so please be sure to respond before that time. We know this may be a time of new or renewed fear and anxiety for many and we recognize that additional support will be needed to remove barriers that impede learning.

At the start of this school year, students will also be given an opportunity to complete a brief emotional needs assessment. The data from this assessment and the data you provide as a parent/guardian will allow us to offer targeted support to students in need. This survey will be given during the first few weeks of school. If you wish to review the questions for the student survey, please visit this webpage.

Thank you for your continued partnership and we look forward to supporting your student to ensure success for the 2021-22 school year. Together, we can and will help our students learn from challenges and thrive!
